Hotel Verde, Cape Town Airport May Be The Greenest Hotel In The World
The Hotel Verde, Cape Town Airport may have just become the greenest hotel in the world, after receiving its second LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum Green Building Certification from the US Green Building Council!
No other hotel has accomplished this goal, ever, and we are very proud that an African hotel achieved a double Platinum certification. The 4 star hotel’s first certification was awarded in May 2014, for New Construction in the Green Building Design and Construction category, whereas this year it was awarded with another, in Existing Building Operations and Maintenance.
This way, its LEED score rose from 85 to 89!
The owner of the hotel, Mario Delicio, was ecstatic that his dream of achieving something that was both luxurious and sustainable came to fruition, and that his business model was well worth sharing, since its potential to change lives for the better is immense!
