– Naomi Campbell Evokes The New Mrs. O In Ghana –
Ghana-born British fashion stylist and style director of W magazine Edward Enninful is at it again. He is the man behind the epic Vogue Italia July 2008 which featured all black models, including the incomparable Naomi Campbell. Enninful and Campbell make one incredibly dynamic team; they have worked together many times before and everything they touch just seems to turns to gold. This time he took her to his homeland for a First Lady worthy photoshoot other African First Ladies would die for – afterall the muse was the only Michelle Obama.
Photographers by Willy Vanderperre and personally styled by Edward Enninful himself for W’s Global Style Issue, the spread is called “Naomi Campbell: The First Lady of Fashion” and tells a story of Campbell’s taking a Mrs. O-esque worthy wardrobe on an international tour. “It’s a tribute to a modern day First Lady on a state trip, evoking the kind of timeless style that could have existed in the 1940’s, 60’s, or even today,” Enninful said.
The shoot is stunning and many elements of it are a reminder of the first Mrs O blended with the grace and charm of the current Mrs. O.
