In lieu of producing The Green White and Blue Ball in 2015 the GWB Commission opted instead to hold The Legacy Campaign that partnered with EngAyde in raising funds to help assist in the aid of orphaned children of ebola. This year they are back at it again and it seems they have already outdone themselves by upping the ante into a multi-day event. The theme for the 7th annual ball is ONE Sierra Leone – a call to action to bring Sierra Leoneans together as ONE heart, ONE country, and ONE people in the name of Sierra Leone’s betterment, prosperity, and future. Co-Chair and marketing director, Sarran Lan Jabbie says, “This campaign is a representation of what we want to see Sierra Leone as, but also keeping true to our respective traditional cultures and traditions. After all, what makes Sierra Leone special is the fact that we are a tiny melting pot of differences yet we are very tolerant of one another.”
The Green White and Blue Ball is far more than just one big party. It is one where outstanding Sierra Leonean individuals are celebrated for their professional achievements and humanitarian work. It is in honor to Sierra Leones’s resilience against the odds. Patrons who are eagerly awaiting the comeback of The GWB Ball will have the opportunity to grace the red carpet and display their elegant attire during the two-part reception and gala highlighting Sierra Leoneans making laudable efforts in the community with an awards ceremony spotlighting unsung heroes.
As a precursor to the ball, the commission is introducing three GWB Experience (#GWBX) events, leading up to the GWB Ball, showcasing the talents of Sierra Leoneans through arts and entertainment. There’s something for everyone during the GWBX events. Hope to see you there.
The schedule for the multi-day event is as follows:
