She is effortlessly elegant with an excellent taste in style, and her natural beauty has captivated Hollywood and the fashion industry, making media outlets to dub her as ‘the new fashion it girl,’ ‘the one to watch on red carpet shows,’ and now one of Vogue magazine’s ‘10 rising style stars of 2014;’ but, for us here at ALUX Magazine, ‘The Most Stylish African Woman of 2013’ is Lupita Nyong’o.
A graduate of Yale Drama School and native of Kenya, Lupita Nyong’o dazzled the world in 2013 with her portrayal of Patsey in the movie 12 Years a Slave and with her fabulously classy looks, including her refreshing lipstick that perfectly suits her style and causes everyone, including us here at ALUX Magazine, to crown her as’The Most Stylish African Woman of 2013.’
Whether she is wearing Miu Miu or Elie Saab, Lupita Nyong’o proves that black is never boring every time she steps on the red carpet. Her unforced elegance lends the right feminine allure to everything she wears, like when she looked incredibly beautiful in the stunning yellow J. Mendel gown at the 17th Annual Hollywood Film Awards, the dazzling Prada white silk jersey gown with a gold sequin smocked bodice at the premier of 12 Years a Salve at the Toronto International Film Festival, or perhaps even the undeniably chic contrasting black and cream Lanvin gown she wore at the BAFTA LA Britiannia Awards.
With a slew of chic red carpet looks and magazine editorials in colours that add a bit of sparkle, compliment her flawless skin tone, and work well with her beautiful simple low Afro, the Kenyan actress is about to see her career surge to new heights in the award season since she nabbed two “Best Supporting Actress” nominations, one with the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the other the Golden Globes Award. But, it is her approach to dressing that we celebrate today, and we look forward to seeing what this breakout style star of 2013 will wear for her next red carpet appearances.
